0%According to tradition, Saint Thomas, one of Jesus Christ's apostles, arrived in Kodungalloor in 52 AD to spread Christianity. His teachings resonated with many, even those from Brahmin backgrounds, leading to their conversion. Saint Thomas then traveled throughout Kerala, establishing churches in various locations. He ultimately met his fate in Mylapore, Tamil Nadu, where he was martyred. Remarkably, the mission he began in Kerala flourished for centuries, attracting a steady stream of Hindu converts. Some of these early Christians migrated south, establishing new communities and continuing to preach the gospel. Despite facing opposition, they persevered in spreading their faith.
Unfortunately, tracing the exact origins of the Karuvatta Munjanattu family proves challenging due to a lack of documented records. We must rely on ancestral legends passed down orally, along with any written notes or points they may have left behind, to piece together a picture of our earliest generations. Based on these traditions and the available records, family history points to Sri. Aankan Chandy from the Panachamoottil family of Karthikappally as our earliest known ancestor. However, the family's story likely extends even further back, and the search for our deeper roots continues.
